#2. Interskol PShM-32/130

Delta sander Interskol PShM-32/130
Interskol PShM-32/130 is a compact device equipped with a delta-shaped sole, which allows for fine grinding work in hard-to-reach areas and embossed surfaces, for example, paneled doors. High results of work are ensured due to low vibration frequencies of the sole. To achieve professional quality, it is necessary to use various abrasive consumable attachments with grain of different fractions. For example, if it is necessary to remove one layer of coating, then a consumable with a coarse grain is installed.

To process relief surfaces, you will need fine-grained sandpaper, and for sanding varnished products, a soft nozzle is suitable. The consumables are fixed to the sole using Velcro, which holds them securely during the work. If a nozzle of the desired shape is not found, it can be easily cut out from a sheet of sandpaper equipped with a felt layer. To ensure high-quality dust removal during grinding, holes should be made in the cut out attachments. Criteria for selecting a grinding machine

As you can see from the models presented above, they differ from each other not only in their design, but also in their characteristics. Therefore, when choosing a tool, you should pay attention to the following factors.

CriterionDescription
Application areaThe first thing you need to do is decide for what purpose you are purchasing the tool. If you plan to work professionally with a machine, you may have to buy different types.
Tool powerThis characteristic is also selected depending on the intensity and nature of the work.
BalancingIt is very important that the machine is properly balanced, otherwise it will fall on one side or the other. However, you can check the balancing only during work or by carefully studying user reviews for a specific model.
Vibration levelIf the tool vibrates strongly, it will be very difficult to work with it, and the quality of cleaning or grinding will be poor. This characteristic can also only be verified in practice or through reviews.
Noise levelYou should not choose a device with a high noise level, since it will be difficult to use it in a residential area for a long time.
Comfortable gripThis factor is important if the tool will be used for a long time. Your hand will get tired quickly if the handle is slippery or has an awkward shape.

When choosing a grinding machine, you need to take into account several parameters at once.
If you don’t have the opportunity to understand the intricacies of choosing a grinding machine, you can purchase any model from our rating, because only the best tools are included in it. You can be sure of the high quality of the grinder and that it will serve for a long time and faithfully.

Comparative analysis of three types of wood sanders:

Sanding is a mandatory procedure to give parquet a presentable appearance. With its help you can level a wooden surface, clean out scratches and cracks. Of course, grinding is not done manually, but using special equipment - grinding machines. There are a large number of similar units on the market, differing in type of design, purpose, and mode of operation. Let us outline their main technical characteristics for the optimal choice.

There are a huge number of varieties of parquet sanders, but all of them can be combined into several groups:

  • drum - the working surface is represented by a cylindrical shaft on which an abrasive belt (sanding paper) is installed;
  • belt - the working surface is formed by an abrasive belt moving between two moving shafts (rollers);
  • disc – grind the surface with discs (one or more);
  • vibrating – equipped with a vibrating working sole, which makes “troweling” movements during the grinding process;
  • eccentric (orbital) - the working sole simultaneously rotates and vibrates.

Each of these types of equipment solves its own problems and has operating features. Let's look at these nuances more clearly.

Types and characteristics

Wood sanders vary in design and operating principle , which determines their specific characteristics.
Taking into account the power and complexity of the configuration, they are divided into household and professional . Based on their purpose, we can distinguish devices of a universal nature and highly specialized instruments.

Corner

The most popular among home craftsmen and professionals is the angle grinder (angle grinder) , which is better known as the “grinder” . This universal tool, after the development of cutting discs, is more often used as a cutting tool, forgetting that it was originally developed for grinding work.

The operating principle is based on processing the workpiece with the edge of a rotating disk. The main design feature of an angle grinder is the location of the disk spindle (grinding or cutting) perpendicular to the electric motor shaft.

Changing the plane of rotation and transmitting torque is provided by a gearbox. For grinding and polishing, discs with a diameter of 11-13 cm of maximum width are used, and for cutting, narrow discs with a diameter of 17-24 cm are used.

The main advantage of an angle grinder is its versatility and the ability to process surfaces of any configuration . Disadvantage: small working surface area.

Tape

Processing of workpieces using a belt sander ( LSM ) is carried out with sanding (emery) paper , which is pulled onto the rollers. The principle of its operation is reminiscent of a plane - when the tool is progressively moved while pressing on the surface of the workpiece, the moving abrasive blade cuts off the top layer of wood. The depth of processing depends on the grain size of the skin and the force applied.

The LSM allows you to easily level a wooden surface by removing wood to a depth of several millimeters; process the edge, incl. round it up; remove old coating from wooden structures. It is not suitable for fine polishing. Household LShKs use a sanding element with a width ranging from 6-12 cm. The most common length of the sanding belt is 76 cm.

The advantages of the tool are a significant coverage area of the surface being processed , the ability to level and simultaneously grind rough surfaces. Disadvantages - work at high speeds leads to the appearance of defects, the impossibility of polishing the surface.

Vibrating

A vibrating or surface grinding machine ( PVM ) uses a rectangular sole as a working element. The sanding cloth is installed on this base using a special clamp or adhesive tape.

The operation of the device is based on reciprocating (oscillatory) movements of the sole, at a speed of up to 22,000 vibrations per minute, i.e. about 340 Hz. The amplitude of movement is 2-5 mm.

The degree of surface treatment depends on the grain size of the sanding paper and the amplitude of vibration of the sole. For rough processing, coarse-grained sandpaper is used, and the amplitude is maintained in the range of 3.5-5 mm. To carry out polishing, a fine-grained sanding cloth is installed, and the amplitude does not exceed 3 mm. The oscillation speed can be adjusted over a wide range.

One of the varieties of PShM is a delta grinder . Its main difference is the triangular shape of the sole. This design allows you to expand the capabilities of the tool when processing hard-to-reach elements - corners, protrusions, etc.

The advantage of the PShM is the ability to polish the surface and cover a fairly large area. The disadvantage is that the device is designed for processing flat surfaces, and it is quite difficult to process cylindrical workpieces and complex shapes efficiently.

Eccentric

An eccentric or orbital sander ( ESM ) occupies an intermediate position between a LSM and a PShM. In it, as in the case of the PShM, there is a sole on which the sanding blade is installed, but it has a round shape. An important difference is the presence of special eccentrics that provide complex movement of the sole. It rotates around an axis and performs orbital motion.

Household electric grinders can have a working element with a diameter of up to 16 cm, which provides a significant coverage area of the surface being processed. Complex motion improves machining accuracy. One drawback is the formation of a large amount of fine dust , which requires the inclusion of a special dust collector in the design. Difficulties also arise when grinding corners.

Oscillatory

The use of oscillatory technology in grinding machines is typical for new models. The principle of their operation is based on the fact that the engine performs not rotational, but oscillatory motion . The oscillation range (oscillation angle) is more than 3º, which provides an amplitude of more than 5-6 mm.

The main advantages of such models:

  • low dust formation with the exception of its emission in the centrifugal direction;
  • the ability to process complex areas ;
  • smooth operation;
  • possibility of performing deep cutting .

The capabilities of the tool are increased when using an electric motor with a power of more than 0.3 kW.
