Where to get it or how to make it yourself

For the manufacture of the fence, pallets are used, either used or new (made to order). If you urgently need to build a fence, but there is no way to quickly purchase pallets, you can make the pallets yourself. They are designed simply, and the location of the main structural elements can be changed at your discretion.

Prepare the material:

1. Boards 100x25 mm (for creating a shield). They are located at a distance of 1-3 cm, which is determined by the requirements for light transmission; if desired, the boards are packed close to each other (they get a shield without gaps).
2. Bars with a section of 100x100 mm. Their length is determined individually (150-200 mm).
3. Lathing bars (section 25x25 or 25x50 mm) can be used. The length is also calculated taking into account the type of structure, but such products are not mandatory; they are used to increase the reliability of the fence.

Dismantling blocks

To disassemble double pallets, prepare a pry bar, an axe, pliers and a hammer. The work process is labor-intensive and will take some time. It is important to dismantle the material without damage.

Experts advise hitting each element of the wooden block with a hammer until a gap of 1 cm appears between the timber and the block. Then the plank is nailed back and clings to the nail with pliers. They pull him out a little. Use a pry bar to grab the head of the fastener and place a bar under the tool. Then the screw is pulled out. Similar work is carried out on the second side.

Do not hit the boards too hard , otherwise they will burst and will not be useful for installing the fence. You can use another method: place the pallet on its edge and split the bars with an ax, remove the damaged parts, and remove the screws with pliers. This is how double pallets are separated.

Builders' recommendations

Professionals say that paint and varnish work is done at the last stage of fence assembly. If this is done before installing the fence, the applied coating will be scratched and become unusable. Therefore, they paint and varnish last, otherwise you will have to do this procedure again and spend money on purchasing the material.

Often, novice craftsmen cannot dismantle a double pallet. Either the nails or screws are tight, or the material itself is deteriorating. In this case, take a hacksaw with fine teeth and cut off the caps. The boards are released with a pry bar. In this way, the integrity of the lumber for the fence is preserved. The work is painstaking, but there are no other options.

Waste should not be thrown away . They can be used to fence flower beds and other areas of the garden. A beam is removed from the pallets; its length is 100 cm. The edges are sharpened with an axe, and the jumpers for the pallets are driven into the ground 50 cm.

Other bars serve as joists that are attached to the posts. Then the split or short planks are cut evenly with a hacksaw to one size and screwed to the structure. Thus, you get a beautiful fence.
